Thank heavens the hospital were on the ball.
My local hospital is hit and miss. When I took my son in with possible meningitis (headache, sleepy, temperature, extremely difficult to rouse, pretty much incoherent when I tried to talk to him) our bums didn't even touch the seats in the waiting room before we were triaged.
On the other hand, I presented with something that should have led to emergency surgery - but I went in on a Friday night. By the time the consultants finally showed up on the Monday, my innards were so badly inflamed they couldn't operate safely, so I spent a week on IV antibiotics, then got sent home to join a waiting list for elective surgery. (I only found out from chatting to the anaethetist that my case was considered serious enough for me to have been bumped up the waiting list - nobody told me anything.)
