All comments on this thread failed to suggest a decent note-taking app that isn't super convoluted.
I used Telegram as a way to quick jot notes for future use, reminders and whatnot, but I am trying to move out of that, so I started using https://simplenote.com/, but what a weird app. It logs me out if I don't use it for like 2 days, I don't like the fact that it has these titles because I don't need titles, I just need a place to paste content, and also it's not chronological like Telegram messages but also I can't reorder the notes as I wish, they are shown by most recent updated first, which is weird.
Anyway, all of that was ok if it wasn't for the weird syncing issues that started to happen recently: it takes sometimes hours for updates made in one device to be synced to other devices, I don't know, it looks like their server is broken or something.

I don't know why I'm writing this note anymore, but I think we could easily have a note-taking app with private notes writing to private relays on Nostr.

Even though coding via go templates and plain ol' javascript is worse at scale for highly interactive apps, it's been really fun learning into htmx and Alpine and seeing what all I can do without frameworks and a build system.

Reading the forward to the 1947 edition of Brave New World. Aldous Huxley writes:

Both of these sections of the nearly 80 year old forword are strikingly prescient. They describe the increased authoritarianism we see (overt in places like China, but more insidious in the West - the supranational welfare-tyranny of the EU) that can only be reversed by a movement of decentralisation.

I'm also trying to figure out the best way to link to bandcamp from the scrobble site. That's going to be next on my list once I get better integration with spotify.
If divergence in UX justifies divergence in data formats, then every distinct UX would have its own data format, and there would be no interoperability.
On the other hand if semantics justify data formats (e.g. we've arbitrarily decided that short form video vs long form video are different concepts on an ontological level), then divergent UX can interoperate.
The difficult thing is deciding what the trade-off should be between simplicity (by collapsing multiple types of thing into a single standard) and complexity (proliferating standards and granular tags for more complete support of more use cases).
The limiting factor is simplicity. Once a spec becomes too complex, the number of implementations drops significantly. Therefore, in order to support interoperability, applications have to interoperate on a level below their desired UX, and supplement either through inferring additional meaning from the base data formats (which logic may diverge between clients) or by creating proprietary data formats to support the client's UX.
The traces of the devastation caused by the socialists and bureaucrats in Brussels are unmistakable throughout Europe. Meanwhile, the productivity of the private sector is dying and the general stupidity is growing like a cancer. Everywhere the destruction caused by infantile economic stimulus programs, the building ruins, the devastation caused by subsidy and interest rate manipulation, inflation and debt orgies, plus constant interventionism and bureaucratic terror - the EU must go! A Europe of autonomous regions is the future, self-determination of free individuals, the end of the propaganda terror of a stupid superfather state.

This is accurate.
I can see it so clearly partly because where I work is very pro-regime. More AML and bullshit data laws help our market, and give us a moat. But because I stack, and mostly consume media outside the mainstream bubble I see it for what it is. It's the water I swim in, but at least I know it's water while my peers don't.
The problem for me personally is the cognitive dissonance I endure building products that are probably net harmful, but the propaganda around me says it's the most noble industry to be in.
I'm not American, so it's kind of moot, but tbh I'm a bit more skeptical that Trump isn't regime-aligned. If anything, I'd prefer him to lose so that at least there's a chance for a stronger counter-culture to emerge against left wing power. Trump wouldn't fix anything, but also him being in office makes those on the left feel like they're heroic and cool by being even more vocally socialist.

First impressions of #pubky vs #nostr
mobile experience: pubkey is better than nostr
desktop experience: nostr is better than pubky
key management: nostr nsec is easier than 12 word seeds
on boarding: pubky feels new and glitchy, but they are fixing things, nostr is more polished, glitches take longer to fix
Still only day 1, but imho a great new addition to the open web. Cant wait to see how it evolves and for the public launch.
